ABOVE THE SEA

From the edge and above, I am repeatedly drawn to photograph dramatic coastline and the rhythmic movement of the surf surge and retreat. At the onset of El Niño in 2015, I began capturing aerial abstractions of California’s central coast. The turbulent weather and massive swell were impressive yet alarmingly powerful. This ongoing series now spans the pacific coast from Oregon to Nayarit, Mexico.  I continue to photograph and record the lively rhythm of the ocean’s perpetual motion. Tranquil yet vibrant, soothing yet often turbulent, these aerial seascapes embody a duality of being as luminous waves drift, churn, ebb and flow.
